Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

To provide you with our on-page auditing, reporting, and affiliate tools, we collect the following types of information:

A. Information You Provide to Us

  • Account Information: When you create an account or subscribe to a premium monthly plan, we collect your email address, name, and password.
  • Payment Information: We use secure third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe). We do not directly collect or store your full credit card number or billing details.
  • Support Communications: If you contact us for technical support or feedback, we collect the contents of your messages.
  • Affiliate Program Data: If you join our affiliate program, we collect payment and contact details necessary to process your 50% commission payouts.

B. Information Collected via the Chrome Extension and Analytics

  • Active Tab URL and DOM Data: To generate an SEO audit, our extension reads the HTML structure (Headings, Meta Tags, Keyword usage, etc.) of the webpage you are actively viewing when you click the extension icon. This auditing process happens locally in your browser.
  • Product Analytics & Tracking (PostHog): We use PostHog to analyze user behavior, product funnels, and feature usage to improve the Service. This may include tracking clicks, feature interactions, and referral parameters (e.g., tracking how you arrived at our site via affiliate links).
  • Session Replay: To debug technical issues and improve user experience, we may occasionally record anonymized user sessions within the extension interface.

C. Third-Party Integrations (Google Search Console) If you choose to connect your Google Search Console (GSC) account to Check Page SEO, we request specific, limited permissions via Google OAuth:

  • Read-Only Access: We only request “read-only” access to your GSC data to display live metrics (clicks, impressions, position) alongside your active page audit.
  • No Storage of GSC Data: We display this data directly in your browser. We do not permanently store, modify, or sell your historical Google Search Console data on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Check Page SEO extension and reporting tools.
  • To process your monthly subscription payments and manage your account tier.
  • To generate the AI-ready prompts and PDF reports you request.
  • To track affiliate referrals and accurately calculate partner commissions.
  • To communicate with you regarding updates, security alerts, and support messages.
  • To monitor and analyze trends and usage via PostHog to improve the Service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may share necessary information with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating our Service (e.g., payment processors, analytics providers like PostHog, email delivery services, hosting providers). These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to a valid request by public authorities.

Note on AI Tools: Our extension generates structured text prompts based on your audit data. You are responsible for copying and pasting these prompts into third-party AI tools (like ChatGPT or Claude). We do not send your data directly to these external AI providers via API.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Data Rights

Depending on your location (such as under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: The right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Deletion: The right to request that we delete your account and personal data.
  • Correction: The right to request that we correct any inaccurate information.
  • Revocation of Third-Party Access: You can revoke Check Page SEO’s access to your Google Search Console at any time directly through your Google Account Security settings.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top.

7. Google API Services & Limited Use Policy

Check Page SEO utilizes Google OAuth to authenticate users and securely connect to Google Search Console to provide search performance insights for the websites you audit.

Data Collection & Usage When you use Check Page SEO, the extension accesses the URL, HTML content, and metadata of your currently active browser tab to perform real-time SEO audits. If you connect your Google account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes and fetch your Search Console data solely to display it within your extension dashboard.

Data Sharing & Transfers We prioritize your privacy. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, browsing history, or SEO audit results to any third parties.

Limited Use Disclosure Check Page SEO’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only use the data to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the requesting application’s user interface.
  • We do not transfer this data to others unless doing so is necessary to provide or improve these user-facing features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • We do not use this data for serving advertisements.
  • We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your affirmative agreement for specific messages, doing so is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, to comply with applicable law, or for the app’s internal operations and even then only when the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
